Amazon India has launched three new stores today in the form of Video games, Music and Luggage & Bags on its marketplace, www.amazon.in. With the launch of these three new categories, there are a total of 18 product categories on the Indian store, with the company saying a total of 900,000 products and more than 12 million books (physical and e-books) currently being sold.
The Video games store is said to be the largest gaming products store in India. It consists of more than 2600 gaming products including consoles and accessories and over 2000 game titles. Titles such as 2013’s bestselling game Grand Theft Auto 5, FIFA 14 are available for sale along with the PlayStation 4. Brands showcased under the videogame store include Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo, as well as studios such as Electronic Arts, Rockstar and Ubisoft.
In the Music category, Amazon will offer more than 4 lakh albums from both Indian and international labels. “We are also very excited to have been the partner of choice for both Sony DADC and Wildcraft and offer our customers a unique opportunity to be the first to own or gift the popular international catalogues of Warner Music and Wildcraft’s Back-To-School collection,” Agarwal added.
Coinciding with the launch, Sony DADC, the physical licensee to record label Warner Music Group has made its international music catalogue available on the store. The catalogue is being re-launched in India after an eight month break and will be available till February 11. Amazon’s collection includes albums and special box-sets by artists such as Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Iron Maiden, Coldplay, Bruno Mars and Skrillex. Music is available in CD, MP3 and vinyl formats.
Finally, the Luggage & Bags store houses over 3500 styles from 50-plus brands. You will find popular brands such as Samsonite, American Tourister and VIP, as well as adventure brands like Victorinox and Wildcraft besides international labels such as Camelback, and High Sierra.
Amazon has announced that sellers in the three categories include names such as GamesThe Shop, Planet M, Croma Retail, Rhythm House and Pritam Music. Products in the three new stores are eligible for Amazon’s guaranteed next-day delivery service in select cities. “We are very pleased to offer our customers the largest selection of products in the country in all of the three categories that we launched today. This is a reiteration of our commitment to relentlessly focus on building a place that customers in India can trust to find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online ,” Amit Agarwal, VP and Country Manager for Amazon India, said in a press statement.
